— DENTAL IMPLANTS
Long-Term Tooth Replacement

Real Teeth,
Restored

Dental implants provide a stable, natural-looking option for replacing one or more missing teeth.

— WHAT THEY ARE
A Stable Foundation for Tooth Replacement

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once placed, it can integrate with the jawbone over time, creating a stable foundation for a crown designed to look and function much like a natural tooth.

Unlike a traditional bridge, an implant does not depend on neighboring teeth for support. Because the implant sits within the jawbone, it can also help maintain bone in the area of the missing tooth.

Dr. Patel works with experienced oral surgeons for implant placement when appropriate and restores the implant with a custom crown designed to blend naturally with the surrounding teeth.

— THE PROCESS

The Implant Process

1

Consultation
& 3D Scan

CBCT 3D imaging helps us evaluate available bone, surrounding anatomy, and the location of nearby structures for detailed implant treatment planning.

2

Implant Placement

Oral surgeon places the titanium implant. Usually 60–90 minutes, often done with sedation.

3

Healing
(3–6 months)

Implant fuses with bone (osseointegration). You wear a temporary tooth during this time.

4

Permanent
Crown

Once healed, Dr. Patel attaches a custom crown designed to blend naturally with your surrounding teeth.

CANDIDATE?

Am I a Good Candidate?

Most adults with one or more missing teeth and reasonably good oral health are candidates for implants. During your consultation, Dr. Patel evaluates several factors.

  • Missing one or more teeth (or planning extractions)

  • Sufficient jawbone density (or willing to do bone grafting)

  • Healthy gums and no untreated periodontal disease

  • Non-smoker, or willing to quit during healing

  • Diabetic patients with controlled blood sugar are usually fine

— Common Questions

Implant FAQ

  • From start to finish, usually 4–8 months. Most of that time is healing — actual chair time is only a few hours total.

  • Local anesthesia is used during implant treatment, and sedation may be discussed when appropriate. Temporary soreness or swelling after treatment is normal and varies from person to person.

  • Implant outcomes depend on several factors, including bone and gum health, medical conditions, smoking, oral hygiene, and long-term maintenance. We evaluate these factors carefully before recommending treatment.

  • Implants and bridges are both established options for replacing missing teeth. The better choice depends on the condition of the neighboring teeth, available bone, medical history, cost, and your individual preferences.

  • Often yes — we can do bone grafting to rebuild bone before implant placement. This adds a few months to the process but enables great long-term results.
